Chapel Mission Support Team
Terms of Reference
- To set priorities for Surrey Chapel’s involvement with Christian mission worldwide, including both gospel and compassionate mission, and international, national and local mission.
- To raise the congregation’s interest, involvement and commitment to Christian mission worldwide, particularly in those areas identified as priorities.
- To promote, coordinate and provide direction for prayer for Christian mission worldwide.
- To organise the involvement of mission societies and individuals involved in mission in our Sunday services and other meetings, in liaison with the Admin.Group.
- To keep track of and coordinate the activities of groups within the church responsible for our support for various aspects of mission and individual missionaries.
- To monitor and respond to new developments and individual initiatives in our involvement in mission.
- To oversee the information about our support for world mission on the SC website, in liaison with those responsible for maintaining the website.
- To propose and coordinate support for those undertaking visits to mission fields.
- In conjunction with the Treasurer, to prepare the entry for mission support in the Chapel’s annual financial plan and to manage this area of the Chapel’s expenditure.
- To meet at least every three months for a formal, minuted meeting, and to report regularly to the eldership.
- To maintain other such informal contacts and communication as necessary to ensure that the responsibilities of the Mission Support Team are carried out efficiently.
- To identify who should participate in an annual ‘Mission Forum’. (The Mission Forum will consist of all those known to have an active participation or responsibility in some aspect of the Chapel’s involvement in Christian mission worldwide.)
- To call the Mission Forum to share insights, news, developments, concerns and suggestions related to Surrey Chapel’s support for Christian Mission, worldwide.
