A command
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-20)
A history
Surrey Chapel has a long history of sending,
and of support for mission. For example, in a period of particular
missionary fervour in the Chapel, between 1906 and 1917 nine individuals
went from the Chapel to serve in China. More typically, activity is at a
somewhat lower level—but our response to Christ’s command has always been
maintained.
An ongoing commitment
In more recent years we have sent and supported
our own workers in Kenya, Uganda, Mexico, Nicaragua and in mainland (and
particularly eastern) Europe. We also actively support others working in
mission who have a close association with Surrey Chapel.
Short-term overseas
work and visits by some of our young people is on the increase, while the
local mission field is included through support for local Christian
organisations such as Norwich Youth for Christ, the Norwich World Café, and
UEA Christian Union.
We also encourage and support those from within the
Chapel who are interested in training for mission-related roles.
So where do you fit into all this?
