Gathering Weekend & Harvest 2011

The weekend of 24,25 September was the third annual Gathering Weekend held by Surrey Chapel.  Saturday saw the fellowship join in prayer from 7am until 4pm.  Various members of the fellowship led the hourly sessions each with a different focus.

Harvest Supper was held in the evening and on Sunday, as part of the Gathering Weekend, the church committed itself to the continuation of the its work for God's kingdom throughout the coming year.  As part of our Harvest Celebration, gifts were brought that were later passed over to the Foodbank project.  The display of food gifts was quite spectacular and the church gathered to thank God for His provision for another year.

This is the Act of Commitment made by the church on Sunday 25 September 2011.

Brothers and sisters of this Church, do you confess that you have turned from your sin and put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord? We do.

Do you believe that the scriptures are the word of God, and do you affirm that you are in sympathy with our Basis of Faith? We do.

Membership of God’s Church is a great privilege which carries solemn responsibilities:

Do you, depending upon God’s gracious help and according to the measure of faith, strength and opportunity he provides, undertake to honour these responsibilities for the year ahead? We do.

Let us say together these words of personal commitment and covenant to God.

'I am no longer my own but yours.
Put me to what you will,
rank me with whom you will;
put me to doing,
put me to suffering;
let me be employed for you,
or laid aside for you,
exalted for you,
or brought low for you;
let me be full,
let me be empty,
let me have all things,
let me have nothing:
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to your pleasure and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
you are mine and I am yours.'
